Window boxes

Street and courtyard windows planted for Seville heat — compact herbs, trailing greens, and boxes that never fight the shutters.

Clearance before beauty

Outward-swinging shutters decide box depth more than fashion does. We mock clearance with cardboard before ordering metal or ceramic boxes so hinges and neighbours stay happy.

Street-facing windows on pale façades also bounce heat upward into the soil. Lighter box colours, drainage holes, and plants that recover after a dry day keep the display honest through July.

What we plant for daily use

Herbs that you can snip from the kitchen window earn their place: rosemary, thyme, and oregano tolerate reflected heat better than soft annuals. Trailing greens soften the façade without demanding constant deadheading.

Where watering from inside is awkward, we specify liners and soil mixes that hold moisture longer without becoming sour in humid weeks after rain.

District notes

Triana

River breezes dry boxes faster; we plan denser planting and remind clients to check soil every other morning in peak heat.

Santa Cruz

Narrow lanes mean boxes must not drip on passers-by; drip trays and careful watering matter as much as plant choice.

Nervión

Balcony rails often replace classic sill boxes; we adapt brackets and weight limits for modern façades.

Field checklist

  1. Swing shutters fully open and mark the free zone with tape.
  2. Check façade rules with the building community before drilling.
  3. Confirm how far you can lean out safely to water.
  4. Choose plants that tolerate reflected heat from pale walls.
  5. Plan winter reduction so boxes do not look sparse after December pruning.

Design fee and hardware

Design and planting for each window box starts at €190. Brackets, boxes, and waterproofing membranes are priced after we confirm dimensions on site. Multi-window façades receive a combined quote so hardware can be ordered together.
